What Is The Panther Card?
It is a computerized card that identifies you as an FIU student. It contains your photograph, name, ID number, signature, bar code for library use and a magnetic strip for electronic identification.

Who Is Eligible?
The Panther Card is available to all currently enrolled FIU students.

Do I Need A Panther Card?
Yes, you need an ID card to access University services and programs. The Panther Card identifies you as a currently enrolled student eligible for all paid entitlements, athletic and recreational events.

How Do I Get My Panther Card?
Bring your paid receipt and a legal photo ID (i.e. driver's license or passport) to the ID office at your respective campus.

Is There A Fee For An ID Card?
Yes, a $10.00 non-refundable fee has been assessed as part of your matriculation fees. A replacement fee of $15.00 is charged for duplicate cards.

What Is The Panther debit Account and How Does It Work?
The Panther Debit Account is a safe and convenient plan for students to pay for purchases on campus. It works like a credit card in reverse. Depending on your needs, you deposit an amount of money to your account. Everytime you want to pay for a meal in the cafeteria or make purchases in the bookstore, you give your card to the cashier. Your card is passed through the register and the amount of the purchase is electronically deducted from your pre-deposited account via the magnetic strip on the back of the card. The remaining balance is displayed at the register so you'll always know how much you have left in your account. It's simple. Instead of charging purchases and receiving monthly bills, you electronically debit against your account.

What Are The Benifits Of The Debit Plan?

CONVENIENCE: You no longer have to fumble for bills or change to pay for your snacks and meals in the cafeteria and for books and supplies in the bookstore, etc. Contrary to to credit cards, there are never bills, fees, or finance charges to worry about.

SECURITY: It's safer than carrying cash. Since a student's photo, signature, and encoded identification number are on the Golden Panther ID Card, it's almost impossible for someone else to use your card.

FLEXIBILITY: It provides the flexibility you deserve. Whether you need a last-minute book purchase or want an extra dessert, with your Golden Panther ID Card account, there's no worry.

MONEY MANAGEMENT: It is an excellent money management tool, helping you budget and plan for your campus needs.

How Do I Enroll In The Debit Plan?
It's easy to open a Panther Debit Account. Applications are available at the Photo ID Office at University Park or BBC Campuses. Deposits can also be made in person at the GUC Cashier's windows in the University Park or the ID Office at the BBC Campus.

Is There A Required Initial Deposit?
The amount of your initial deposit depends upon your needs. Can I Make Additional Deposits? Certainly! Once an account has been opened, additional deposits can be made at any time. The minimum additional deposit is $10.00.

Is There A Service Fee?
No, your account is pre-paid so there are never any bills, fees, or finance charges.

Can I Take Cash Out?
You can only make deposits to your account. Your purchase amounts are deducted from your account and your remaining balance is displayed at the register.

How Can I Keep Track Of My Transactions?
Transactions are recorded by time, date, location, and amount. Account statements are available the following business day at no charge, by completing a request form at GC 104 or WUC 325.

Will My Account Remain Active From One Semester To The Next?
Yes, your remaining balance at the end of the semester will automatically carry over to the next semester. Your monies will remain in your account until you decide to close it.

What If I Lose My Card?
If the card is lost or stolen, contact the ID office immediately, at UP: (305) 348-3910 or (305) 348-2297, BB:(305) 919-5406. After 5:00 pm, weekends or holidays, call Public Safety (305) 348-2626. As soon as you notify the ID office, your account is frozen and a hold will be placed on your card prohibiting further purchases.
Soon after you phone message, you must report your ID card loss in person to the ID Office, GC 104 or at WUC 143. At that time, a new ID account will be activated.
For your protection, the card is non-transferable and its use is restricted to the person whose picture and signature are on the card. You may not lend your card to anyone or ask them to purchase items for you with your card.
